Thanksgiving Play

Today was Ally's Thanksgiving Play at school. The parents were invited to watch as Mrs. Oliphant put on a puppet show for the kids about giving on Thanksgiving. Throughout the puppet show different characters gave something away causing a ripple effect or pay it forward type scenario. The chorus of the play was "On Thanksgiving Day, On Thanksgiving Day, if you want to be happy, give something away." At the end of the show there was a knock at the door and a surprise for all of the children. As part of the lesson the kids had made gifts that they are supposed to give away to someone they see on Thanksgiving Day. It was really cute and well done and the kids really enjoyed it. By the end they were chanting the chorus too!

Tonight for family home evening we talked again about why we celebrate Thanksgiving and made Turkey hats. The girls loved them and they look too cute wearing them! We are still working on our Thanks and Giving trees too.
